In these last decades the Parque Metropolitano has experienced a notable development, considering that until principles of the XX century these hills were rocky places, and lacking vegetation.

On September 28th, 1917, it was published a law which allowed the creation of this great public park. 

The Parque Metropolitano de Santiago is a public service, which mission is:
 “To improve the quality of people's life, providing attractive urban spaces of social integration and of contact with nature, promoting education and scattering of its users, with emphasis on art, culture, sport and the protection of the environment.
